
Alton Lippe of Crawford died Sunday, August 5, 2012, at the age of 83. Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 9, 2012, at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Crawford with Pastor Tom Beers officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul Memorial Park under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mr. Lippe was born February 10, 1929, in McGregor, Texas, the son of the late William Richard and Lena (Steinkamp) Lippe and was a 1946 graduate of McGregor High School. On August 21, 1953, he married Marilyn Yvonne Hennig at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Coryell City, Texas. The lifelong Crawford area resident was employed by General Tire and Rubber Company for a number of years and later was employed by Franklin Industries in Crawford where he later retired. More recently, McLennan County Precinct 4 employed him in the road maintence division.
Mr. Lippe was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he has served as president of the Church Council, was a Sunday School Teacher, an usher and was on the funeral ushering team and sang in the choir.
He has enjoyed fishing, hunting, vegetable gardening, reading and enjoyed playing the guitar with his family.
Also preceding him in death was a grandson, Jason Lane; a brother, Milford Lippe and three sisters, Francis Dozier, Margie Nagel and Betty Frady.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Marilyn Lippe; two sons, Gaylon Lippe and wife Linda of Huntsville, Darrell Lippe and wife Audry of Crawford; a daughter, Vicki Lane and husband Steve of Waxachie; two brothers, Don Lippe and wife Penny of Seguin, Larry Lippe of Argyle; two sisters, Carol Weschke and husband Raymond of Valley Mills, Janet Hestilow and husband Clifford of Cronroe; six grandchildren, Jennifer Banks, Jeff Lane, Kandis Lippe, Weston Lippe, Landon Lippe, Shanna Lippe and a great grandson, William Banks.
