Bernita Kay Herrington

Bernita Kay Herrington, 77, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2017, in Waco, Texas. A graveside inurnment will be at 2:00, Saturday, May 5, 2018, in Moody Cemetery, Moody, Texas.

Bernita was born on January 28, 1941 to Columbus Robbs Durant and Jessie Lee Brooks Durant, in Lubbock, Texas. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1958 and married Reynolds Herrington on July 10, 1965. Bernita was a teacher’s aide and school secretary for 20 years. She loved playing the piano and guitar and she loved her church, Willow Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Herrington was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Robyn Howard; and brother, Jim Durant.

Survivors include her husband, Reynolds Herrington, of Moody; sons, Joe and wife, Joann, of Moody, Doug Herrington, of Phoenix, Arizona; grandsons, Douglas Herrington, Jr., of Phoenix, Arizona, Christopher Herrington, of Phoenix, Arizona, Joseph Herrington, of Belton, Texas; brother, Bobby Durant, of Lubbock, Texas; and sister, Glenda Durant, of Montana.

Memories of Aunt Kay coming to my mom's and having Bible studies, then giving her pedicures. I loved how she would play the piano for us. I will miss you very much Aunt Kay. My love always, and blessed are you.

I was named after Kay and we shared a special connection because of that. I will miss her tremendously.
