

Visitation will be at Cole Funeral Home, Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 5 to 7p.m. Services will be at Crawford United Methodist Church in Crawford, Texas, 2:00p.m., Monday, March 9, 2015. Burial will follow with Masonic Rites at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Crawford, Texas.
Bill graduated from Valley Mills High School in 1950 and worked for General Tire for 30 years and retired in 1985. After retiring Bill worked as the Justice of the Peace for McLennan County for 8 years. He had a workshop at home where he loved making things out of wood. Bill also made rings out of silver coins and enjoyed giving them to the couples he married during his term as Justice of the Peace. Dominoes golf and square dancing were some of his favorite things to do.
Bill belonged to the Crawford United Methodist church, the Crawford Masonic Lodge #585 and was a member of the Crawford School Board for 15 years. He loved to attend his children and grandchildren’s school functions, and sporting events. Bill and Joyce would have been married for 60 years on May 14, 2015.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Alma (Bost) Holmes; brothers, R.W., Wayne “Red”, Earl, Rayborn, Ed and Bobby.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Holmes; Children, Dave Holmes, Sharon Westerfeld and husband Terry; grandchildren, Stacie Anderson and husband Cort, Todd Westerfeld and wife Amanda, Jill Cartwright and husband Micah, Amy (Holmes) Wolfe, Taylor Holmes and wife Whitney; great grandchildren, Caden and Ainsley Anderson, Ryker Wolfe, Mason Cartwright. He is also survived by his brothers, Joe Holmes and wife Louise and Jimmy Holmes and wife Lori; sisters, Hazel Hawkins and Merle Morgan; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
