To say my mom Billie Marie(Higgins) Preston was special, was evident, tonight as neighbor, after neighbor, friend after friend, spoke about her at her “visitation” , this evening, it made me see all the “love , respect, & kind words” so many, friends & family, gave about her “life” they are a testament, of her giving, loving, sharing, self.🌹
Her great-grand-children’s giggles, mixed with us “kids” tears of good times!! shows how “life” carries
on the legacy of her unfailing good humor !!
Mom made the best of the life, she lived, I know I get my strength, faith, & sometimes annoying attitude!! from her.
I KNOW, she’s in Heaven right now,as, she had a One-Way ticket-paid in full, for her not so perfect, but always doing her best!! Life, here on earth !!
Goodbye MaMa

I miss you...or thought I did...and then I looked around me...Your everywhere.
Your in the momentoes I keep, the lessons I’ve learned, and the memories I’ve seen. There have been things you have given me, food we have shared and long talks about nothing and everything. Lol Lord knows where I get the gift of gab, but I’ve always been proud to say it was my mama :) You were special... To me, my siblings and oh so many others you touched. That’s rare to find in these days or in any other time. Simply being you and true, you always helped where you could, even when you couldn’t for yourself...
I still feel your heartbeat in the hugs of my memories and will still hear you in my ears in the many years to come...
Live Life simple,
Enjoy what you have,
And always keep the Faith.
Love you Mama
Your baby Boy

Well what can I say about my mother. She meant so much to me and all the people she was around. We when to the church to try to explain who our mama was to the preacher that would be officiating her funeral and all of us 8 kids had something to say about mama and what she meant to them. I’m sure that mama was listening as we reminisced about the good times. Mama always said she was going to write a book about our life and what happens when you raise 8 kids and half the neighborhood. I remember the days of going to church and all the church members trying to help mama “control” all her brood (Sometimes she would bribe us with chicklet to stay in our seats). Many people in the church took care of us and helped mama as she was pretty much on her own when it came to raising us and making sure we had clothes and food and those kinds of things. We were very poor, but I don’t think any of us realized that because we had so many people looking out for us. My mama could do anything and that’s the truth. If you needed clothes it didn’t matter what she could sew it. If you wanted something knitted or crocheted, she could do that. If you needed someone to work in the field or milk a cow yes she could do all that and also could type 120 WPM and take shorthand (I know many of you don’t know what that is but it was used before computers to take notes quickly). My mama was a special lady but over the last couple of years she couldn’t do the things she enjoyed but the one thing which never changed was her love for kids. My mama loves her kids and everyone else's. Mama work until she was 78 years young and I think she would have still been working if her health had allowed it even though she always talked about retiring and doing her arts and crafts stuff. I miss my mama and heaven sure has gained an angel. I love you mama and you tell everyone in heaven hey and that I will be there as soon as I get done living life.

Ms. Billie is my momma from some time ago that loved me, nurtured me and schooled me all at the same time- lol. Sometimes she was certainly not a force to be reckoned with! She has a heart of solid gold and at any given moment, would give you the shirt straight off her back if it meant that you would be safe and warm. So many delightful words of wisdom were spoken into my ear because I knew that she had already lived a thousand lifetimes and had straight up old school “life” knowledge. All those words taught me a few things & we know them now- Live Simply, Love Often and Laugh Deeply- You fly high baby cuz I’m gunna see you again one day- I love you!
