Billy Joe Brown

Mr. Billy Joe Brown, 82, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Waco, Texas. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 3, 2017, 2:00 p.m., Cole Funeral Home, with Reverend Mickey Fugitt officiating.

Mr. Brown was born July 15, 1934 to William Stonewall Jackson and Mina Jane (Wyatt) Brown in Moody, Texas. He was a longtime resident of McGregor. Billy married Leah Ann Sims June 1, 1969 in Crawford, Texas, and worked as a carpenter in commercial building and concrete work and as a home builder.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Terry Joe Davis; sister, Nell Baker; brothers, James Ray Brown, Robert Brown and Leo Brown.

Billy leaves behind his loving wife, of 47 years, Leah Brown of McGregor; daughter, Connie Bettencourt and husband, Frank, of Newnan, Georgia; sons Paul Wayne Brown and partner, Phillip, of Smyrna, Tennessee, Harold Brown of Snyder, Glen Brown and wife, Angie, of McGregor, and Keith Brown; grandchildren: Jarrett Bettencourt, Heather Fishburn, Billy Brown, Rachel Ramirez, Renee Chollett, Hope Brown, Braydn Brown, and Trenton Davis; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Cordice Brown and wife, Delores, of Bellmead, and John Brown and wife, Kris, of Bartlett; sister, Vickie Ash and husband, Merle, of Moody; brother-in-law, Carl Wayne Sims and wife, Joyce, of Robinson; numerous nieces and nephews, a host of friends; and two four-legged daughters, Precious and Taz.
