

Billy Greer, 89, of McGregor went home to be with the Lord November 13, 2011. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 17, 201, at College Avenue Baptist Church, 201 S. Monroe St., McGregor, Texas, under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Powers Chapel Cemetery near Rosebud, Texas. Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Cole Funeral Home.
Billy was born April 23, 1922 to John Henry and Erin Mae Whitt Greer in Chilton, Texas. He was the 5th of 8 children and was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
He graduated from Lott High School in 1940 and served his country in the Air Force. In 1951 he married Frances Huddleston in Lott, Texas. He was saved while attending Lone Star Baptist Church and was ordained a deacon at age 30. He also attended First Baptist Church Chilton, First Baptist Moody and College Avenue Baptist Church in McGregor where he taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served as a trustee. He loved gardening, collecting antiques, arrow heads and coins. He also found joy in picking up pecans which he shared with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances, daughter Anna and husband Harry Sundberg of Georgetown, sons Joel and wife Jane of Round Rock, Barry and wife Carla of Georgetown, seven grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Central Texas Nephrology Associates, Waco Cardiology Associates, Bluebonnet Hospice and friends for their prayers, concern and care.
Casketbearers will be Sean Sundberg, Jeff Sundberg, Ty Greer, Travis Greer, Harry Sundberg, Hershel Barton.
