Charlie Juanda Walters McMullen

Charlie Juanda Walters McMullen of McGregor died Saturday afternoon, February 11, 2012, at the age of 94. A joyful celebration of her life will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 19, 2012, at The Main Place in McGreor.

Mrs. McMullen was born January 4, 1918, in McGregor, Texas, the daughter of the late Charlie Wynn and Aileen (Oglesby) Walters. She is the last surviving member of her 1935 graduating class from McGregor High School. She continued her education at 4-C Business College in Waco. On March 20, 1937, she married Bill McMullen in Waco, Texas. After fifty-three years of marriage, he preceded her in death, February 6, 1991.

The life-long McGregor resident was employed by McGregor Milling as a secretary and later was manager of Powell Supply. She also assisted her husband Bill as a bookkeeper for his Gulf and Texaco service station business. However, she will be most remembered by their ownership of Dairyland where many people frequented for their meals. She was a member of First Christian Church of McGregor where she attended the last service as their closing service in 2006. Throughout her life, she enjoyed sewing, working crossword puzzles, was an avid reader and a member of various bridge clubs in town.

Also preceding her in death were two brothers, W.F. (Bill) Walters and Joe Bob Walters.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Jerome McMullen, Rick McMullen; two daughters, Billie Gail Goff and husband Merle, Rita Armstrong and husband Jim; two sisters, Ida Kaelin, Jene Mooney; five grandchildren, Kelly Oswald, Julie Neal, Richard Oswald, Alexis Archer, Jon Tate McMullen; five great grandchildren, Sean Neal, Jordan Neal, Richard Oswald, Jr., Tammy Willich, Amy Gonzales; two great great grandchildren, Antonio Neal Gonzales, Haeley Willich.; two sons of the heart, Martin Garcia, Jr. and Johnny Anaya.
