Debbie passed away from a long term illness on Saturday July 23, 2011 at 6:35 PM at the Quality Care Nursing Home in Waco, TX. Her family was present and Elvis hymns played in the background, just as she had wished. Debbie loved her family, enjoyed spending time with her friends, had a unique connection with animals, and was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley. She grew up in McGregor, journeyed around the world, and eventually settled in Waco, where she retired from a 15 year career in the mobile home industry.
Debbie’s presence here will be missed, but there is great comfort in knowing she is no longer burdened with worldly worries and her soul has found peace.
Debbie is survived by her brother, Rufus Lewis Jr. of Waco, two daughters Carla (Barr)Light of Waco and Shelly (Patrick)Smith of Austin, and one son, Heath Patrick of Overton, four grandchildren, Ashley, Alli, and Jessica Light, Brendan Smith, and one great grandchild, McKenzie Simmons.
She is preceded in death by her mother.
There will be a memorial in Debbie’s honor at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor on Friday, July 29, 2011 between the hours of 4 PM to 6PM.
