

Edith Estelle Evans of McGregor died Monday, December 23, 2013, at the age of 89. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 3, 2014, at Sixth and Adams Church of Christ with Jon Mark Smith and Neil Walter officiating. Private inurnment will be at 4:00 in Moody Cemetery under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor.
Mrs. Evans was born October 28, 1924, in Mexia, Texas, the daughter of the late Charlie Eugene and Alta Stanley (Hosea) Bradshaw where she received her education at Forest Glade School. On May 24, 1945, she married Willard Franklin Evans in Mexia, Texas. After fifthy-three years of marriage, he preceded her in death December 7, 1998.
In 1978, she moved from Waco to McGregor where she has made her home. She was a longtime member of Sixth and Adams Church of Christ and was a correspondence teacher for the World Bible School for thirty years. Throughout her life she enjoyed crocheting, reading and was a supportive mother and devoted grandmother.
Also preceding her in death were three daughters, Melba Jane Evans, Delores Ann Evans and Mary Janice Evans.
Survivors include a daughter, Alta “Sandi” Walter and husband Cecil Ray of Gatesville; a sister, Doris Sanches of Athens; three grandchildren, Michael Ray Walter, Shelley Anntanette Beesley, Penny Marie Walter-Bustillos; six great-grandchildren, Makinsey Beesley, Breanna Beesley, Cade Beesley, Sadara Green-Walter, Adrian Bustillos and Jacob Evan Bustillos.
