

Evelyn Roedler of McGregor died early Monday morning, October 29, 2012, at the age of 94. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Jon Mark Smith and Pat Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Post Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mrs. Roedler was born November 20, 1917, in Throckmorton, Texas, the daughter of the late Jesse Jefferson and Mayme Love (Ashby) Jackson. At an early age, she moved to Oglesby where she was salutatorian of her 1936 graduating class and participated in plays and Future Homemakers of America. She married James Carl Roedler, Sr. in Gatesville on October 5, 1940. James and Evelyn moved to McGregor in the late 1940’s. After thirty-five years of marriage, he preceded her in death on August 19, 1975.
For twelve years, she was a saleslady with Ann’s Dress Shop in McGregor in the 1980’s. As long as her health permitted, she was an active member of Sixth and Adams Church of Christ where she worked with Vacation Bible School and the Ladies Bible Class. Throughout her life, Evelyn enjoyed quilting, and her cat Prissy. She has been a member of Beta Sigma Phi, McGregor Magic Fingers Quilting Club and was a Blue Bird leader.
Also preceding her in death was a son, James Carl Roedler; a grandson, Ronald Dutschmann and brothers, Joe Jackson and Marshall Jackson.
Survivors include two daughters, Alma Dutschmann of Oglesby, Jo Marie Snider and husband Robert of McGregor; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Casketbearers will be Donnie Dutschmann, Greg Dutschmann, John Dutschmann, Jeremy Dutschmann, Garrett Dutschmann and Sam Arnold.
