Floyd Elliott Norton, Jr.

Floyd Elliott Norton, Jr., 76, of Temple, Texas passed away Friday, September 13, 2019. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2019, Cole Funeral Home in McGregor with Reverend Mickey Fugitt officiating and Darren Sutton presenting the eulogy. The visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Osage Cemetery Coryell County.
Floyd was born in Houston, Texas on June 19, 1943 to Floyd Elliott Norton, Sr. and Lillian Inez McKinney Norton. He was raised in Galena Park, Texas and graduated from Galena Park High School in 1963. Floyd served in the United States Marine Corp, where he received five of six possible honors including Private First Class, Highest Shooter of the Platoon, Honor Man of the Platoon, Outstanding Recruit at Paris Island, Platoon Leader, the Marine Corps Leatherneck Award, and Sergeant. The Galena Park High School Library was presented with a book by the Marine Corps, commemorating Floyd’s accomplishments. Floyd married Bonnie Hugghins on May 10, 1985.
Passionate about motorcycles, Floyd refurbished, rebuilt, and did custom paint jobs leading him to open Scooters FX. He was CMA president for five years, and active in Toys for Tots. Floyd was active in The Church Under the Bridge, in Waco, loved the lake life, had an extraordinary sense of humor, and could make anyone laugh.
Preceding Floyd in death were his parents, Floyd Elliot Norton, Sr. and Lillian Inez Norton.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; daughters, Laura Henson and husband, Steve, of Baytown, Lisa Norton Gipson, of Dayton, Celese Dixon and husband, Gary of Teague, Nicole Kenney and husband, Sean, of Cypress; son, Shawn Norton and wife, Cathy, of Crofton, Kentucky; sister, Lenora Krone; step daughters, Wendi Klander and husband, Brian, of Leander, Jami Curry, of Waco; step sons, Dan Hugghins and wife, Tabitha, of Lorena, Joel Hugghins and wife, Cathy, of Katy; step daughter, Staci Bowser and husband, Brad, of Overland Park, Kansas; 35 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and one on the way; nephews Kevin and Darren Sutton, of Channelview; and lifetime best friend, Tommy Lohse.
