George served in the United States Marine Corps, a commitment that reflected a steady sense of duty and resolve. Over the years, he built a life defined by hard work and perseverance, working at Willard Psychiatric Center and at Elderlee Construction in Phelps, New York, and later earning his living as a truck driver for Reese Construction out of Salina, Kansas. Through each chapter, he was known for showing up, pushing through, and doing what needed to be done. A force to be reckoned with, a toughness that could be counted on and a generosity that was freely given.
On June 28, 1958, George married Patricia Noone. Their family life was strengthened by his devotion and loyalty, and by the quiet ways he stood by the people he loved. He is also survived by three children, Deb Van Cleef and Jim Kisner, George Van Cleef, and Kimberly Van Cleef; and by his grandchildren, Brittany Jennings and her fiancé, Kalyn Hubbard, and Christopher Henson and Gidget his beloved pug.
Away from work and responsibility, George found enjoyment in simple, lasting pleasures. He loved horses, fishing, hunting, and wagon rides—interests that suited his steady spirit and offered room for the kind of humor that so often lightened the day.
George Vancleef will be remembered with respect and gratitude—for his service, his steadfast presence, and the enduring care he showed to family and friends.
A special thanks to his extended family that made the trip to Moody, Joann, Ricky, Sierra, Rose, Maryjane, Jim.
