

Hazel Pollard of Oglesby died late Sunday night, June 10, 2012, at the age of 95. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday, June 14, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Oglesby with Reverend Rich Libber and Reverend Walter Davidson officiating. Interment will follow in Comanche Springs Cemetery in McGregor under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pollard was born September 17, 1916, in Gatesville, Texas, one of six children, of the late George and Catherine Harris (Allen) Miller. She was reared in Gatesville where she was a 1934 graduate of Gatesville High School. On March 17, 1934, she married Aubrey Austin “Ted” Pollard in Gatesville. After seventy-one years of marriage, he preceded her in death March 12, 2006. In 1934, the couple moved from Gatesville to Oglesby where she was employed as a clerk for Woods grocery Store and Sullins Grocery Store. She later became assistant postmaster in Oglesby for twenty years until her retirement.
Mrs. Pollard was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School at various levels and assisted with Vacation Bible School. She also was a member of the WMU, Ruth Class and served as the church as secretary in earlier years. She was later a member of the 60 Plus Bible Study in Oglesby. In her spare time, Hazel enjoyed spending time with her family as well as cooking and sewing. Her love for God and family were the two most important things in her life which she considered more valuable than being a millionaire
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Francis Miller, Jim Miller; three sisters, Madge Patterson, Virginia Washburn, Dorothy Adams and a son-in-law, Donnie Cox
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Pollard, Jo Kathryn Cox; three grandchildren, Sherri Williams, Deborah Naremore, Don Cox; six great grandchildren, Austin Naremore, Lindsay Naremore, Michael Williams, Daniel Williams, Brian Cox, Amy Cox; two great great grandchildren, Julian Naremore and Raydric Williams.
