Helen Joyce Homan also known as "Peggy", was born on October 24, 1926 to Sidney and Lucy Gilbert. She is one of 10 children. Helen married Sgt C.D. Homan, who was in 36 Division in the Army. She came to join him in marriage and they raised 3 children, June, David and Michael. They made a home in Oglesby, Texas, where her husband was a mail carrier.
