

Herbert “HAL” Lippe of Oglesby went to be with his Heavenly Father early Thursday morning, January 6, 2011, at the age of 71. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 8, 2011, at St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City, under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Pastor Christopher Richmann officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later time in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
Mr. Lippe was born May 27, 1939, in Waco, Texas the son of the late Herbert Herman Augustus and Linnie Loraine (Butler) Lippe. He began his education at Highland School, Crawford and was a 1957 graduate of McGregor High School where he played football and was a member of FFA. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1972 as an E-7. His decorations include the Good Conduct Medal four times. On May 26, 1962, he married Karen Ann St. Peter in South Ammherst, Ohio.
In the Ely Masonic Lodge 424 in Vermilion, Ohio, he was raised a Master Mason. He later served as High Priest of the PB Morgan Chapter 233 in Vermilion, Ohio and was also a member of the Lorain Council 103 in Lorain, Ohio. In 1989 he moved to Texas and joined the Crawford Masonic Lodge. He was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Crawford and was currently a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City.
Mr. Lippe worked as an appliance service repairman for over thirty years. He owned and operated Lippe Appliance in Crawford for several years until 1993. He later was employed by Discount Vacuum and Mr. Appliance. His illness prematurely ended his career while working at Kirkpatrick and Witt in Waco.
Mr. Lippe was a morning person who enjoyed watching the birds from his back porch early in the morning. He also enjoyed wood working, fishing, being with his grandchildren and looked forward to the Labor Day “get-away” with the family.
Also preceding him in death was a brother, Wayne Lippe and a sister Linda Whatley.
Survivors include his wife Karen of forty-eight years; three sons, Gregory Lippe and wife Nina of Robinson, Tracy Lippe and wife Shari of Beach City, Kary Lippe and wife Tanya of Grapevine; two brothers, Douglas Lippe and wife Carole of Arlington, David Lippe and wife Elaine of Hewitt; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
