

Ione Bristow of Eddy died Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at the age of 78. Memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Cole Chapel, 304 Eighth Street, Moody with Rev. Skip Blancett officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held in the Drawing Room for those in attendance.
Mrs. Bristow was born August 4, 1935, in Cushing, Texas, the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Aldora (Durett) Underwood. She received her education at Cushing High School where she was historian of her graduating class. She kept in touch with her class as she organized many class reunions. She continued her education at a business college in Tyler for a few years. On September 14, 1956, she married Roy Gordon Bristow at Woodland Baptist Church in Houston. For about five years, she was employed by Tennessee Gas and Oil as a secretary until her retirement in 1953. In 2008, she moved to Eddy from Salado.
Throughout her life, Ione was a member of the United Methodist Church. From 1982 to 1984, she was involved with the Future Farmers of America and was recognized at the state level. She was their secretary from 1980 to 1983 in Austin. Throughout her life, she enjoyed quilting, knitting, cooking, gardening and playing various card games.
Also preceding her in death were a brother Grover Underwood and a sister, Mary Alene Lyles.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-seven years, Roy Bristow; two sons, Howard Bristow and wife Elise of Pflugerville, David Bristow of Austin; a daughter, Jennifer Moore and husband Patrick of Eddy; four grandchildren, Madison Bristow, Tyler Kirkpatrick, Paige Moore and Katie Moore.
