

Jimmie L. Mathews, 70, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, May 23, 2022 in Eddy, Texas. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2022 at Cole Funeral Home with Mr. Frank Alexander officiating. Burial to follow in Bruceville-Moore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the funeral home.
Jimmie was born on December 3, 1951 in Waco, Texas to Wilburn and Amelia (Ripley) Mathews. He was a longtime resident of Eddy, Jimmie graduated from Waco High School in 1970. He served in the United States Marine Corp Reserves from 1970 – 1976. Jimmie worked as a Pipefitter and was a member of the U. A. Local 529. He married the love of his life, Deborah Ann “Debbie” Stephens Mathews on August 11, 1979 who preceded him in death on January 14, 2011. They had two daughters together. Jimmie also has a son from a previous marriage to Janie Walker. He enjoyed singing karaoke. Jimmie also enjoyed spending time with everyone, he considered everyone as family. He was also known as the handyman to everyone. Jimmie was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He is also preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his two daughters, Stephanie Hoke and husband, Chris of Temple, Alicia Mathews of McGregor, son, Randy Mathews and wife, Shelly of China Spring; grandchildren: Trey Hoke, Kaitlynn Hoke, Austin Mathews, Tyler Mancera, Ashley Keating and husband, Chris, Nicholas Sheffield, Tanner Sheffield and wife, Avery; great-granddaughter, Stella Keating; sister, Shirley Boyd and husband, David of Waco; numerous nieces and nephews. Special friend in life, Patsy Reed of Eddy.
Pallbearers: Austin Mathews, Trey Hoke, Colton Brown, Dustin Brown, Peyton Duran, and Bobby Patterson. Honorary Pallbearers: Kaitlynn Hoke, Tyler Mancera, Logan Fogle and Holden McVeigh.
