John Adkins was born on November 18, 1969, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Robert Adkins and Linda "Trent" Adkins. He was the youngest of four children. Through his father Robert's military career, the family eventually relocated to Texas, where they made their home in Oglesby.
In Oglesby, John met the love of his life, LaDonna "Evans" Adkins, through her older brothers. The two became high school sweethearts. During his time at Oglesby High School, John was an avid football player and proudly graduated from there. John and LaDonna were married on December 17, 1993, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love and devotion.
Together, they raised four children: Megan, Darian, Makayla, and Derek. Their home was always open to others, and they welcomed Brandon, one of Darian's high school friends, as part of the family.
John was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. He had a passion for woodworking, carpentry, and home remodeling, finding great joy in creating and building with his hands. Even after facing numerous medical challenges, John's determination never wavered. He continued to build and craft beautiful furniture for his wife, children, and friends, refusing to let physical limitations diminish his love for his craft.
John and LaDonna shared 37 wonderful years together, creating a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Linda Adkins. He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory: his beloved wife, LaDonna; his children, Megan, Darian, Makayla, Derek, and Brandon; and his treasured grandchildren, Lila, Elliott, and Westin.
