Leta Marie Jones

Born on July 23, 1943, in Camargo, Oklahoma, Leta Marie was the daughter of Percy Leon Jones and Geneva Mae Jones (Gardner). Throughout her life, she was known for her generosity, kindness, and caring spirit. She found joy in helping others and believed that the people she loved should know they were cared for and supported.

Known affectionately as “Rere” by her family, Leta Marie’s greatest joy was the people she loved. She gave freely of herself and was always looking for ways to contribute to the happiness and well-being of her family and friends. She was immensely proud of her daughter, Shannon, and found tremendous joy in watching her family grow through her granddaughter, Sydney Recker Smisek, her grandson-in-law, Alex Smisek, and her great-granddaughter, Parker Smisek. She also took great pride in her nieces and nephews, celebrating their accomplishments and taking pleasure in seeing them grow into independent and successful adults.

Those who knew Leta Marie will remember her warm heart, her generosity, and her desire to make life a little better for the people she loved. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the many lives touched by her kindness, support, and love.

Leta Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Geneva Mae Jones (Gardner) and Percy Leon Jones.

She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Jones; granddaughter, Sydney Recker Smisek and her husband, Alex Smisek; great-granddaughter, Parker Smisek; brothers, Donald Ray Jones and his wife, Sharon Jones, Eddie Eugene Jones, and Michael Wayne Jones and his wife, Francine Jones.

She is further survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Michael Wayne Jones II and his wife, Tina Jones; Dannielle Marie Jones; Christopher Adam Jones and his wife, Beverly Jones; Richard William Jones; David Alexander Jones; and Alissa Lauren Jones Copeland and her husband, Kevin Copeland.

Leta Marie was also blessed with eleven great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved dearly: Anthony Ezra Adorno, Nikolas Walker Henderson, Mason Lee Jones, Christopher Leon Jones, Patricia Leigh Jones, Preston Lane Jones, Adam Leroy Jones, Kye L. Jones, Makenna Ray Copeland, Aria Shea Copeland, and Lucy Mae Copeland.

Along with numerous extended family members and friends, they will cherish the memory of a woman whose kindness, generosity, and love touched so many lives.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the healthcare professionals, caregivers, hospice staff, and friends who provided care, comfort, and support during her final days.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor, Texas.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Cole Funeral Home, 1113 W 5th St., McGregor, TX. Interment will follow at Crawford Cemetery in Crawford, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that acts of kindness be performed in Leta Marie’s memory, reflecting the generosity and compassion she shared throughout her life.
