

Loraine Turbeville of McGregor died Wednesday night February 16, 2011, at the age of 82. Funeral services were 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 19, 2011, at College Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Interment followed in McGregor Cemetery under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. A visitation was held from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mrs. Turbeville was born August 29, 1928, in Oglesby, Texas, the daughter of the late Charlie Virgil and Nellie Mae (Kelton) Davis. She began her education in the Crawford Schools and moved to McGregor in 1944 where she was a 1945 graduate of McGregor High School. On September 10, 1950, she married Virgil Earl Turbeville in McGregor. After thirty-one years of marriage, he preceded her in death on August 18, 1982.
During her life, she was a bookkeeper and secretary for various businesses in McGregor prior to her 1988 retirement from the McGregor school system. However, her primary concern was being home to care for her husband and children. At age thirteen, she was saved and baptized at Coryell Baptist Church. Her Christian upbringing found her to be an active and faithful member of College Avenue Baptist Church. She was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class, taught in the youth division and assisted with Vacation Bible School in earlier years. She was a member of the McGregor Garden Club where she assisted in the planting of oak trees at McGregor Cemetery. She loved caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and cooking for her family at all special events and holidays.
Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Teresa Nell Uptmore; four brothers, Thomas Davis, Winston Davis, Gerald Davis, Wayne Davis and a sister, Emolyne Collins.
Survivors include a son Kenneth Turbeville and wife Misti of Waco; a daughter Sharon Humphrey and husband Don of Hewitt; nine grandchildren, Matt Denn, Sara Atkinson, Kirk Humphrey, Carly Webb, Cliff Humphrey, Melanie Rebando, Alicia Murphy, Alan Turbeville, Nash Turbeville; eleven great grandchildren, Aaron Rebando, Madelyn Denn, Jolie Rebando, Michael Denn, Cody Humphrey, Cameron Fleming, Alex Fleming, Kirk Humprey, Elliot Guess, Lucy Webb, Miles Webb and a first cousin, Mary Sue Bass of McGregor.
