Margaret Heck Beard

Margaret Beard of Moody died Tuesday morning, May 1, 2012, at the age of 95. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 4, 2012, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Tom Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in Moody Cemetery under the direction of Cole Chapel, 304 Eighth Street, Moody. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Cole Chapel.

Mrs. Beard was born April 19, 1917, in Barclay, Texas, the daughter of Robert and Lona (Page) Heck. She received her education at White Hall School where she played basketball and softball. On December 24, 1936, she married Billie Herman Beard in Moody. After seventy-one years of marriage he preceded her in death February 28, 2008.

Margaret was a member of First Baptist Church of Moody where she was also a member of the Dorcas Class. Throughout her life, she enjoyed various types of needle crafts to include needle point, playing bingo and dominos. She was also an avid Texas Rangers fan.

Survivors include a son, Dale Beard of Hico; three daughters, Mary Ellen Neuman and husband Delmer of Lorena, Billie Mae Lane and husband Harold of Granbury, Donna Norman and husband Johnny of Robinson; ten grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

Casketbearers will be Jeremy Brandes, Todd Lane, Trenton Lane, Daniel McLean, Denton McLean, Benji Parham, John Pratt and Tyson Thompson.
