

Minnie Miller of Crawford died Saturday, August 28, 2010, at the age of 100. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 2, 2010, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Crawford with Pastor Tom Beers officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul Memorial Park, under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mrs. Miller was born October 24, 1909, in Crawford, Texas, the daughter of the late Andrew and Hanna (Schulz) Gauer and attended school in Prairie Chapel. Minnie was claimed as a child of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism and was publicly confirmed in her faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in the Rite of Confirmation. On November 1, 1933, she married Arnold Thomas Miller at St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City. After fifty-four years of marriage, he preceded her in death June 2, 1988.
Minnie and Arnold lived in the Prairie Chapel Community when they began their life together. They relocated to the McGregor area until 1943 when they moved to the Crawford area. Through the years, Minnie and Arnold were members of St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City, Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor and in 1959, they joined St. Paul Lutheran Church in Crawford.
As a Christian, Minnie served in the following areas of the churches of which she was a member: Sunday School Teacher, Ladies Aid Society, Alter Guild and the Bereavement Committee.
During her lifetime, Minnie worked with Arnold operating their dairy farm. In the late fifties, Minnie became a nurse at Hillcrest Hospital, retiring after seven years of service. She continued as a homemaker and assisted Arnold in the dairy.
Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Walter Gauer, Ervin Gauer, Edwin Gauer, J.D. Gauer; a sister Leona Norman.
Survivors include two sons, Gene Miller and wife Linda, Billy Miller and wife Charlotte both of McGregor; a daughter, Frances McIver and husband Jerry of Abilene; a sister, Thelma Meyer of Crawford; nine grandchildren, Kent Meadows and wife Ashley, Terrell Miller and wife Colleen, Mindy Carr and husband Snapper, Chad Miller and wife Kendra, Mason Miller and wife Kori, Casie Velin and husband Gerry, Adam Miller, Craig Miller and wife Rhianna, Damon Miller and wife Kelsey; nine great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Miller, Courtney Miller, Jackson Miller, Mabry Miller, Tatum Miller, Jake Meadows, Major Carr, Chapell Carr and Emily Velin.
