Nancy Sue Burnes West

Nancy West of Canton, formerly of McGregor, died Saturday morning, March 19, 2011, at the age of 63. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor, with Rev. Denton Popelka officiating. Interment will follow in Post Oak Cemetery near Oglesby. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, at Cole Funeral Home.

Mrs. West was born September 7, 1947, in Gormon, Texas, the daughter of the late Guthrey Noel and Veda Ladell (Rogers) Burns. She was a 1966 graduate of McGregor High School where she was a member of the Bow-wows and was an essay writer. On September 17, 1965, she married Thomas Odell West in Oglesby. In 1966, she moved to Mesquite and later moved to Canton in 2004. For about five years, she was employed by Aviation Insurance Company in Dallas as a proof reader. She attended Tundra Baptist Church in Canton and enjoyed oil painting, reading and sewing.

Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Susan Lynn West.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas West of Canton; two daughters, Tammy Caronna of Mesquite, Brenda Duran of Garland; three brothers, Tommy Burns of Red Rock, Benny Burns of Payson, Arizona, Larry Burns of Leander; six grandchildren, Tiffany Caronna of Mesquite, Amanda Cunningham of Dallas, Brittany Caronna of Mesquite, Jeremy Brown of Edom. Felicia Huddleston of Garland, Timothy Huddleston of Garland; two great grandchildren, Landry Cunningham of Dallas, Harmony Bortters of Garland; here step-father Ron Salmans of Wylie.
