Nora Arbuckle of McGregor died Friday afternoon, January 7, 2011, at the age of 78. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 10, 2011, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mrs. Arbuckle was born September 27, 1932, in McGregor, Texas, the daughter of the late Jesse Melton and Luddie (Gilliland) Polston. She attended McGregor High School. On November 12, 1955, she married J.W. Arbuckle in Waco, Texas. After fifty-two years of marriage, he preceded her in death April 11, 2008. Much of her life was spent as a secretary. She was employed by McGregor Milling and Grain and Smead Manufacturing. After devoting many years to the secretarial profession, she retired in 2003. Throughout her life, she enjoyed shopping and traveling. Her favorite trips include those to Louisiana with her family and friends. She was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church and a forty-four year member of the Bryant Oliver Post of the American Legion Auxiliary in McGregor.
Also preceding her in death were brothers, Andrew Marcus “Pete” Polston, Virgil Polston, Williard Polston; sisters, Nancy Ellen Lassiter, Julia Polston and Willie Bubert.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Arbuckle of McGregor; a brother, Jesse W. Polston and wife Lila Ruth of Whitehouse and many nieces and nephews.
