Blessed is the man whom the Lord Calls to dwell in His Courts, Psalm 65:4 Richard “Dick” Reineke of McGregor was called home from his residence Tuesday, September 25, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Victorious Life Church in Waco, Texas with Rev. Jay Caballero and Paul Allison officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at Cole Funeral Home.
Dick was born July 26, 1941, in Michigan, North Dakota, the son of the late William Harry and Olga (Hamre) Reineke and was a 1959 graduate of Lakota in North Dakota. He served his country in the United States Army in Germany from December 2, 1960, until his honorable discharge September 4, 1962. On October 8, 1966, he married the love of his life, Evie Bergstad in McHenry, North Dakota.
Dick loves his family to include his wife Evie, his children, Rhonda Caballero and husband Jay, Stacy Reineke and wife Amy, Rochelle Gager; his twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren; He enjoyed his son’s horse ranch, the Minnesota Vikings and watching Lonesome Dove movies. He was an avid McGregor Bulldog fan as well. It has been said that Dick never met a stranger. His gift of gab and friendliness is legendary to his family. The bible says, “If you want to be great in God’s kingdom learn to be a servant to all”. Dick personified this verse, lending a hand to whoever asked with humor and a smile. He loved and served the Lord with all his heart. There was a time when he and Evie led a College and Career group. Ministering to this age group, who many times are rootless and penniless, presented its own challenges. He spent many, many weekends moving kids from apartment to apartment with his old truck and strong back. A final request from his grandson was the he be buried in a “Superman” t-shirt under his more formal wear because that is what he was to them.
Also preceding him in death was a sister-in-law Karen Reineke of Monicello Minnesota.
Other survivors include three brothers, Bill Reineke and wife Hildagard of Lakota, North Dakota, Gerald Reineke and wife Judy of Fargo, North Dakota, Gordon Reineke of Monticello, Minnesota; a sister Sharon Hertel and husband Darrel of Judd, North Dakota and several nieces and nephews.
Dick will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to call him family and a friend.
