

Sidney “Sid” Taylor of Alvin died early Tuesday morning, April 9, 2013, at the age of 82. Graveside services and interment will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 12, 2013, at Eddy Cemetery under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. Mary Sanders officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mr. Taylor was born March 21, 1931, in Bruceville, Texas, the son of the late Sidney Augusta and Clara Belle (Appleby) Taylor where he attended school. On September 11, 1953, he married Mary Joyce Berrier in Eddy, Texas. Much of his life was spent as a boiler maker welder with power companies across the United States. This gave him the wonderful opportunities to travel throughout the United States prior to his 1994 retirement. He was a long time member of the Boiler Makers Union number 74 in Houston. After his retirement, he and Mary Joyce enjoyed traveling in their RV.
Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Jimmie Gent and Frances Simmons.
Survivors include his wife Mary Joyce Taylor; a son Rusty Taylor and wife Sandra of Rosharon; a daughter Trudy Brandon and husband Bill of Moody; a brother, Henry Lee Taylor and wife LaVerle of Bruceville; a brother-in-law, Tom Gent of Bruceville; a sister Clara Mae Wade of Bruceville; four grandchildren, Cody Brandon, Clint Brandon, Austin Taylor and (Kacee Jo), Casey Taylor and (Sarah); a special great grandson, Kade, many loving nieces and nephews.
Casketbearers will be Cody Brandon, Clint Brandon, Austin Taylor, Casey Taylor, Jake Taylor and Dustin Phelps.
