Thommye attended McGregor ISD schools where he was a star football player. He continued his education at Austin College where he earned a football scholarship, he then attended The University of Houston. Thommye joined the US Navy in 1981 and was honorably discharged in 1987. Thommye then began his career in the gaming industry, first working at various casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada and Greenville, Mississippi. Thommye was a faithful employee of The Upper Skagit Valley Casino & Resort in Bo, Washington where he was the Director of Cage and Finances for 26 years, until his death.
Thommye was preceded in death by his father, Aaron Jackson, mother, LuCretia Jackson and two brothers, Wilfred Nolan Jackson and Johnny Louis Jackson.
Thommye is survived by his loving wife, Coletta Rogers Jackson, his only son Amon Shapell Rogers (Tiffiney), and one grandchild Jackson Amon Rogers; two sisters, Virginia Rose Jackson and Yvonne Renee Dodson (Larry) and a host of extended family, friends, co-workers and loved ones.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for Friday, March 24, 2023 from 5p-7p at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor, Texas. Services will be held at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 315 Cleveland Ave, McGregor, Texas on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at McGregor Cemetery.
