

Willard “Will” Phillips died Friday, June 29, 2012, at the age of 92. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor, Texas. Interment will follow in Old Perry Cemetery near Moody. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mr. Phillips was born August 14, 1919, in Oologah, Oklahoma, the son of the late Daniel William and Pearl (Jackson) Phillips. At an early age, he moved to McAllen where he attended school. On April 1, 1938, he married Alma Maxine Willingham in McAllen, Texas. After thirty-seven years of marriage, she preceded him in death January 1, 1976. In 1974 he moved to Moody from McGregor. Much of his life was spent working on various farms in the McGregor and Moody areas for B.R. Parham, Paul Alexander and Klyce Allen, to name a few.
He was a member of Family Christian Fellowship and enjoyed fishing.
Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Susie Fox, Ethel Fox; two brothers, Chesley Phillips, Wilburn Phillips; two sons Lester Phillips and Edward Phillips.
Survivors include a son, Chesley Phillips and wife Mary Jane of Valley Mills; a daughter, Virginia Mahan of Waco; a daughter-in-law, Rose Phillips of McGregor; fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren; a niece, Mae Fox; two nephews, Gene Fox, James Phillips and many other nieces and nephews.
