Obituary of Anne Hill Hayes
Anne Davis Hayes, of Mechanicsville, VA crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on January 11th. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harry Foster Hayes; a daughter, Carolyn Anne Grubbs (Chip)and son, Mitchell Foster Hayes (Meredith). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Charles Foster Grubbs, Peyton Andrew Grubbs , Anja Carrie Hayes and Nicholas Mitchell Hayes; two grand dogs, Annie and Dakota, who will sorely miss her. Other survivors are her beloved sister, Carolyn Hill Moseley of Brodnax VA , two nephews: Walter Hill Moseley and Edward Mitchell Moseley and their wives, Susan and Cynthia; neice, Vela Gay Hill Shinault; Great nephews and niece are Brandon Moseley (his wife Sydney), Bobby Moseley (his wife Katlyn and daughter Kelly Rene, Eric Moseley, Chelsea Moseley, Gray Shinaut and Cole Shinault. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Mitchell Hill and Vela Davis Hill, her brother, Horace Mitchell Hill Jr., his wife Beverley, and her brother-in-law Walter B. Moseley. Anne received degrees from Longwood College and her graduate degree from the University of Richmond. She was a retired teacher and counselor of Henrico County Schools where she loved working with her middle school students. She is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma (International Honorary Society of Women Educators), Jamestown Society, Chamberlayne Heights United Methodist Church and a volunteer with Hickory Hill K-9 Rescue. Anne dearly loved her family, cherished her friends, and will be remembered for her respect of the Earth, all of nature, especially trees, wolves and all animals, and MOST ESPECIALLY ALL DOGS. A memorial service will be held at Chamberlayne Heights United Methodist Church on Monday, January 18th at 11:00 AM. There will be a reception at the church following the memorial service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hickory Hill K-9 Rescue, P O Box 1505, Ashland VA 23005, or do a kind act for a dog.
