Barbara Bishop Sethmann

Barbara Bishop Sethmann, 81, of Tappahannock, Va. died Monday, July 26, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Estelle Bishop. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Roger R. Sethmann; and several cousins. Barbara was born in the Shenandoah Valley and grew up in Europe, mostly in France. She graduated from Longwood University and VCU. She worked for both Thalhimer’s and Miller & Rhoads and modeled in the Tea Room at Miller & Rhoads. She was a Legal Editor for LexisNexis Corp. and retired in 2021. Barbara was an active officer of Henricopolis Chapter NSDAR and an associate member of the Blue Danube Chapter NSDAR, EU; an officer in the Lettice Lee Chapter CD XVIIc; a member of the Fort Lowry Chapter UDC and National Society of Holland Dames; past president of the Essex County Museum and Historical Society; past member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary; she was an accomplished soprano in the Berkshire Choral International, and church music; and was an award winning needlework artist. The family will receive friends 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 8100 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville; where a funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. Interment will be in Valleau Cemetery, Ridgewood, N.J.
