Bessie B Dowdy, 88 of Glen Allen, died Tuesday, Jan 26, 2016. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be missed for her kindness and humor. She was preceded in death by her husband, James. E. Dowdy and a brother, Julian Beazley. She is survived by two sons, Allan Parr of King William and Kenneth Parr of Coconut Creek, FL., four sisters, Ethel Byrtus, Shirley Taylor, Caroline Paeplow and Eleanor Brooks; three brothers, Hunter Beazley, Garland Beazley and Robert Beazley; two step-daughters, Brenda Brock and Janice Briggs; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Atlee Chapel of the Woody Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan 28 from 5-8:00 PM. Graveside service will be held Friday, Jan 29 at 12:00 pm at Westhampton Memorial Gardens 10000 Patterson Ave., Richmond with service and reception to follow at Skipwith United Methodist Church 2211 Skipwith Road, Henrico. In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made to Renee’s Cheerios, P.O. Box 1297, Ashland VA 23005.
