He was born September 13, 1937, in Jersey City, N.J., to Dewey and Miriam Samick.
He is survived by his wife, Betty C. Samick; two sons, Glenn S. Samick (Myrinda) and Michael R. Samick; and brother, Donald Samick.
There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 3pm, at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home located at 9271 Shady Grove Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23116.
Mr. Samick is a 21-year Navy Veteran who did several tours in Vietnam, where he was a Dental Technician and Corpsman. After retirement he gave back to the Veterans by becoming a Drug & Alcoholic Counselor. He then went on to own his own photography company called Personal Visions. He specialized in sports photography and produced Little League baseball cards that were a great “hit” for the parents! He also loved his saltwater fishing and garden.
He lived in Portsmouth, VA for 50 years before moving to Richmond, VA a few years ago. The last couple of years were spent at the wonderful VA home of Sitter & Barfoot. They took great care of him, and he loved living there!
He was one of the kindest souls on this planet. He was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage.
He was a dedicated Husband, Father and Brother. He is now at peace and will live forever in our hearts. We love you so much. Rest in peace.
