After VCU, Donald served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Battalion Maintenance Management Chief. He returned to the world of fashion design after his honorable discharge and earned his Associate’s Degree in Fashion Design and Marketing at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Art and fashion remained Donald’s primary passions throughout his life, and he pursued his men’s fashion design career in both New York City and Richmond.
Donald will be missed by his community of family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Marquetta Brooks of Richmond, VA, three grandchildren (Keirra Brooks, Jayquan Brooks, and Darshana Brown), six great-grandchildren, aunt Mary Miller, cousin Daphne Martin, family friend Ben Kouyate, and other extended family members.
