

Dorothea attended Dayton Street School and later went on to West Side High School, where she graduated in 1968. During her time in school, she was active and enjoyed being a cheerleader and playing baseball.
After high school, Dorothea began her career working at St. Barnabas Hospital as a nurse's aide. She later continued her work at JFK University Medical Center in Edison, where she eventually retired as a tech aide.
Dorothea was united in marriage to her husband, Previlon Louissaint. Throughout her life, she lived in several places, including Newark, New Jersey; Springfield, Virginia; Okinawa, Japan; Huntsville, Alabama; and Mechanicsville, Virginia, creating memories and connections wherever she went. While living in Newark, she was involved in church at Metropolitan Baptist Church, where she joined the choir and participated in dance.
While in Okinawa, Japan, she also volunteered at a shelter for abused spouses and children.
Dorothea was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and family member. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland Scott and Oggretta Scott; her son, Donald Louissaint; and her brothers, Marion Scott and Charles Scott.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Juhn Louissaint; her loving granddaughters, Kalea and Lola; her sister, Sheila Robinson (Lawrence); her sisters-in-law, Ermyn Scott and Yolene (Lionel); her brothers-in-law, Wesley and Claudy; her niece, Ty Wanna Cotten (Derek), who she loved like a daughter; her grandnephew and grandniece, Isaiah and lyanna; and a host of other relatives and loved ones.
Dorothea will be remembered for her strength, her love for her family, and the impact she had on everyone around her.
Visitation will be held at Woody Funeral Home - Atlee, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23116, on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, with a Funeral Service beginning at 12:30 pm.
Burial will follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Rd., Hanover, VA 23069.
