

Ed was born October 29,1939 in Richmond, VA to Robert Lee Ward and Virginia Alice Stover Ward. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Claire Taylor Ward.
Ed is survived by his son, Robert Neal Ward (Cynthia); granddaughter, Kinsey Madison Ward; step-grandchildren, Jessica Heather Dalton Wilson (Wayne) and Joshua Erik Dalton (Leslie); step-great grandchild, Jack Henry Dalton; and his brother, Barry Ward (Cheryl); nephew, Nicholas Taylor Ward (Michelle); and 3 grand-nieces.
Edward graduated from Highland Springs High School and earned a Bachelors of Science in Business from University of Richmond in Richmond, VA, but his true joy in life was playing music in the band. Edward played clarinet in the 80th Division Army Reserve Band and retired from the Army National Guard in 1992. He joined the Richmond Concert Band in 1980 and was a member until he passed. Edward was also an active member of various Richmond area bands.
A visitation for Edward will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home - Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, Virginia 23116. A memorial service will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Three Chopt Presbyterian Church, 9315 Three Chopt Road, Richmond, Virginia 23229.
