Garland G. McArthur, Sr.

Garland G. McArthur, Sr., 78, of Richmond, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. Garland served during the Vietnam Conflict and earned several medals including: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Campaign Medal with '60 Device, and the Good Conduct Medal (5th Award). Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Annie McArthur; children, Katya Whitney, Garland McArthur, Jr., Brian Mendiola, LinaAnn Perez, and Daniel Mendiola; several grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy McLaughlin and Robert McArthur, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002.
