Goldie Lee Wenger Shaw

Goldie Lee Wenger Shaw died peacefully on October 5, 2015, at Autumn Care of Mechanicsville. She and her late husband Joseph Calvin Shaw lived on Fullview Avenue in Mechanicsville for many years. She was born on March 13, 1926, in Alderson, West Virginia. Six brothers and three sisters predeceased Goldie.

Goldie is survived by her children, Sharon Wenger, Gilbert Shaw and his wife Jean Shaw, Barbara Shaw Jenkins and her husband Peter Jenkins, Sr., Nancy Walker and her husband James Walker. She was also "mom" to Daniel Burdette and Carla Crowder, her grandchildren. Goldie was blessed with many descendants including, Daniel Burdette, Carla Crowder and her husband Randy. Carla's children, Nicholas and Taylor Weeks; Bill Shaw and his wife Shannon and their children, Emily and Parker; Melissa Gill and her husband Darrell. Melissa's children, Amanda, Cody and Spencer Stancil. Amanda's daughter, Makayla Stancil; Amy Walker Kurtz and her husband Thomas, and their children, Walker and Colin; Patrick Walker and his wife Rebecca and their son, Luke; Katherine Jenkins and her sons, Bernard and Amar Djom; Peter Jenkins, Jr. and his wife Harpreet; Morgan Jenkins.

Goldie was blessed throughout her life with robust health and only suffered short term memory loss for the last two years of her life. She enjoyed her final years at Autumn Care and the regular visits of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great granddaughter. Goldie's death is the end of an era for her descendants and she will be missed so very, very much. All of her family are grateful to God for her long life and for the peacefulness of her death.

The family will receive friends from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm, Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Atlee Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, Route 301 and Shady Grove Rd, Mechanicsville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Richmond.
