He was born in Centerville, Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph Harold Theakston and Helen Bakewell Theakston. After 33 years in education, he retired from Henrico County Public Schools. Harold was an avid hunter and a national championship marksman. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Dale Sibley Theakston; his children, Donna Beaton (Farley), Davis Theakston (Karen), Ned Theakston (Heather); his brother, Robert Theakston (Christine); and his stepsons, David Setchel (Melinda), and Douglas Setchel (Karen). He loved his nine grandchildren and one great-grandson, as well as many extended family members and friends.
Services will be held at Woody Funeral Home Atlee Chapel on Shady Grove Road in Mechanicsville on Thursday, August 13th, 2026.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., service at 12 p.m., and a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Signal Hill Memorial Park.
