Jean Caldo Oliver Bowyer

BOWYER, Jean C., 66, of Mechanicsville, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, April 12, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Louise Oliver; nephew, David Groome; and granddaughter, Kirsten Caroline Bowyer. She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Raymond H. Bowyer; two children, Renee L. Valenzuela and her husband, Gilbert and R. Dwayne Bowyer and his wife, Martha; brothers, Leonard and Jerry Oliver; and sister, Grace Groome. She was "Meme" to her beloved grandchildren, Matthew Brittle, Heather Brittle, Collin Bowyer, Claire Bowyer and David Valenzuela. She is also survived by loving nieces, Beth, Theresa, Christin and Debbie; and nephews, Mike, Jerry and Taylor; and numerous other family members and treasured friends. She cherished being a wife, mother and grandmother above all and spent her living days ensuring those she loved came first in her life. She treasured the worship services and fellowship with members of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015. A celebration of her life and funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Hillcrest Baptist Church, 11342 Hillcrest Rd., Hanover, Va. 23069. Interment immediately following the service in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond, Va. 23222.
