John Edward Tye, Sr.

John Edward Tye, Sr., 90, of Mechanicsville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl W. Tye and Maude Ruth Tye Dunnavant; son, Stephen Craig Tye; brother, Alan R. Tye; and son-in-law, Neal C. McKissick. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Nellie F. Tye; children, John E. Tye Jr. (Cora), Earl W. Tye (Leslie), Sharon T. Burcham (Chic), Alison T. McKissick and Mary T. Nelson (Steve); 10 grandchildren; brother, Robert E. Tye; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 28, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home - Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. 23116, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Signal Hill Memorial Park.
