

Marion Louise Seifert, 90, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026. She was a resident of Mechanicsville, Virginia. Born December 29, 1935, in Syracuse, NY, Marion’s life was marked by steady purpose, quiet strength, and a deep commitment to caring for others.
Marion attended St. Lucy's Academy in Syracuse, NY, and later St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing in Utica, NY. She received her RN License in 1956, beginning a lifelong vocation defined by skill, compassion, and a calm readiness to serve wherever she was needed.
Her first nursing position was at the VA hospital in Syracuse, NY. Over the years, Marion worked in a wide range of nursing roles—from Elementary Schools to Emergency Rooms—bringing the same professionalism and attentive care to each setting. She also volunteered during the Gulf War, offering her time and experience in service to others during a moment of national need.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Richard E. Seifert. She is survived by three sons, Richard (Beverly), David (Colleen), and Michael (Susan); six grandchildren, Adam (Kim), Ryan (Laura), Rachel (Paul), Meghan (Ethan), Alex (Kaitlin), and Ashton (Daniel); and six great-grandchildren.
An avid reader, Marion found companionship and meaning in books, and she carried that same devotion into her role as a dedicated mother and grandmother. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, a dedicated mother and grandmother, a caring nurse, and a faithful friend.
The family will receive friends from 3pm to 5pm on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Woody Funeral Home - Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116. A private inurnment will take place at Dale Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hanover SPCA or your local animal rescue society.
