Marjorie Farley Bruce

BRUCE, Marjorie Farley, 94, of Richmond, died Thursday, April 16, 2015. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend, Mrs. Bruce is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Sellman and husband James, of Richmond, VA and Margaret (Peggy) Bruce of Mechanicsville, VA; and her daughter-in-law, Vickie Bruce, of Richmond, VA. She was predeceased by her first husband, Elliott C. Mullen, US Army; her husband, Gordon P. Bruce; her son, Lt. Cmdr. Clarke M. Bruce, US Navy; and her two brothers, F. Robert Farley and John C. Farley, Jr. Mrs. Bruce is also survived by her sister-in-law, Miriam ReMine; seven grandchildren: David Bruce and wife, Daniela of Germany; Erin Bruce of Seattle, WA; Catherine Petry and husband, Gabriel of Christiansburg, VA; Linda Bruce of Mechanicsville, VA; Brooks Bruce of San Francisco, CA; Michael Sellman and wife, Amy of New York, NY; and Jeffrey Sellman of Philadelphia, PA; seven great-grandchildren: Seth, Liam, Finnegan and Jack Bruce; and Gordon, Clarke and Grayson Petry; and a host of friends and relatives. Mrs. Bruce was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and a regular and meaningful volunteer with Hospice . As a Healing Touch Master, she willingly offered treatment sessions to those who requested them. She gave generously of her knowledge and time to anyone interested in genealogy, since she was exhaustively self-schooled in that area of expertise. An avid reader, artist, poet, musician and international traveler, Mrs. Bruce lived a long, healthy and fulfilling life. Her professional career spanned both business and education and included working as an elementary teacher and elementary/middle school guidance counselor in the Henrico County Schools System from 1961-1986. Graveside services 11a.m. Saturday, June 20, at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
