Melvin Linwood Nash, Sr., 88, of Mechanicsville died Saturday, January 18, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Clarice “Chunky” Dowdy Nash; a son, Melvin L. Nash, Jr. and wife, Lisa; five grandsons, Reid, Brayden, Tyler, Aaron and Levi Nash; a granddaughter, Colby Nash; many sisters in law, brothers in law, nephews and nieces.
Mr. Nash retired from Philip Morris with 41 years of service; and was a Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday (today) at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Rd. in Mechanicsville, and where a funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment in Signal Hill Memorial Park. The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to Maya and Laura for the care to Mr. Nash in the last two years, and to Bon Secours Hospice.
