Michael Brent Bykowski

February 3, 1962May 9, 2019

Michael B. “Brent” Bykowski, went home to our Lord on May 9, 2019. He was born to Normalee and Michael Bykowski (both deceased) on February 3, 1962, in Colorado and grew up in Irvington, New York. Brent graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, where he met the love of his life, Sherrie. Together, they made a life for themselves in Mechanicsville, raising two amazing daughters. Brent will always be remembered as a friendly, loving and generous man whose fun-loving spirit and sense of humor was appreciated by so many. He deeply adored his family and friends and never met a stranger. Some of his greatest joys were cycling, playing tennis and cheering on Hokie football as well as the New York Mets and Jets. Brent’s memory will be honored and cherished forever by his wife, Sherrie; daughters, Lauren and Ashley; brother, Bruce; sister-in-law, Amy; furry buddy, Kramer; and by his many friends. A celebration of Brent’s life will be held at Burkwood Swim & Racquet Club on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. with a time of fellowship to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Central Virginia Food Bank, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Red Cross or a charity of your choice.

Dear Sherrie,

You and your children are in my prayers in this time of grief. Life on Earth is but a short test for admittance into the Kingdom of Heaven, and Brent aced the course.

May God bless you and your children and keep you safe.

Your friend,

Dan Corso

We knew Brent as Mike over at Raintree. When Sherrie, Mike and his children moved to Mechanicsville, he went by Brent, so we called him Mike Brent. We will always remember how pleasant he was, always – He always had a smile on his face. Anytime Brent was invited to play at the Raintree member guest, he always talked about his children, what fine young people they were and how happy he was. In his self-deprecating humor, he often said it was because of Sherrie.
Sherrie, Lauren and Ashley, we are so sad and thinking of you during this difficult time. We want you to know Brent was a positive influence and someone we were glad to call a friend. Miss you already Brent!

I am stunned to learn of Brent's passing. I met Brent during our mutual time at the Reciprocal Group and have stayed in touch since. I have enjoyed many good times with him over the years, and shared some very difficult times. He and I shared many musical interests, and I remember fondly going skiing with him many years ago at Wintergreen. He was a good man and a good friend. My sympathy to his family for your loss. He was far too young to leave us.
