Richard was pre-deceased by his parents Paul R. Layfield and Dorothy Johnson Layfield. Richard was married for 25 years to Molly Harrison Layfield who also preceded him in death in 2013.
Richard was born in Providence Forge, VA on January 19, 1960 and grew up in Richmond, VA. He graduated from the Collegiate School and The College of Charleston.
Richard is survived by his 1st cousin, T. Gaylon Layfield, III of Richmond; 3 nieces and 1 nephew of Richmond, Baltimore and London, GB. He is also survived by his wife’s sister, Mefi Rowland, her 2 daughters and a nephew.
There will be a visitation at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, on December 28, 2022 from 4 - 6 PM.
