Maxey, Raymond Stanley, 87, of Mechanicsville went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 23, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Grace LaVerne Maxey; daughter, Linda Taylor of Ocracoke, NC; son, Michael Maxey of Mechanicsville; grandchildren, Tracy Keenan, Jenny Burkhead, Michael Raymond Maxey and Matthew Maxey; great-grandchildren, Allie Keenan, Ava Maxey, and Brantley Burkhead on the way, all of Mechanicsville. Raymond was a World War II veteran serving in the U. S. Navy from 1942 to 1955. He retired from Inta-Roto, where he led the industrial team in two winning softball seasons. He was a loving and devoted family man. His spirit, contagious laughter and smile will be missed. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday (today) at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Signal Hill Memorial Park. A special thanks to At Home Care Hospice.
