He is preceded in death by his parents Julia and Richard Briggs. Richard is survived by his wife, Mary Briggs and his children Benjamin (wife Angela), Emily (wife Beth,) Bennett, Shannon Granroth; stepchildren, Cameron and Nathan Crenshaw; grandchildren, Marley, Killian Briggs, Greyson, Ashton, Sawyer Bennett, Adam and David Granroth.
Richard worked at Atlantic Constructors and retired from there in 2017.
His final resting place will be in Lewisetta, Virginia where his heart lies.
