Robert (Bob) Archie Bryne, 96, of Mechanicsville, VA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 30, 2026. He was born on December 29, 1929, in White Plains, New York.
Virginia May Bowen Bryne, 95, of Mechanicsville, VA, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026. She was born on May 23, 1930, in Takoma Park, Maryland.
Bob and Virginia met at Shenandoah Valley Academy, in New Market, VA in 1947 and they were married on October 24, 1948. They had a very active and happy life together and were never apart.
They spent most of their lives in Southern California where they worked and then retired. They were active members in the Palm Desert Oasis Seventh-Day Adventist church where Bob was a Deacon and Virginia worked as a Treasurer’s assistant and greeter. They found a wonderful church home at the Meadowbridge Seventh-Day Adventist Church when they moved to Virginia.
They were avid rock collectors and made many friends from all over the country over the years. Bob was very passionate about making spheres from the rock he collected, and many family members and friends have those to remember him by. He was a private pilot into his 60’s and was a docent at the Palm Springs Air Museum. Virginia loved to paint and crochet, and all her grandchildren have a special afghan that she made for each one.
They are survived by their three daughters; Diana (Chuck) Narozniak, Jean (John) Dietrich, and Teresa (Mark) LaRose; six cherished grandchildren and five adored great grandchildren.
A memorial celebration is being planned for their anniversary on October 24. Final details will be posted on their daughters’ Facebook pages.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Meadowbridge Seventh-Day Adventist church, 7400 Antique Lane, Mechanicsville, VA 23116.
