Robert "Bob" "Papa" Hovis Carter, 66, of Mechanicsville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 23, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara; children, Kim and Jim Woodward, Cyndi and Dave Nelson, Kathy and Heath Denton; and grandchildren, Bryan, Carter, Katie, Laine, Trevor and Heather. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, an active member or the Masonic Lodge No. 344 A.F. & A.M. (Past Master, 1998) and Hanover Ruritan Club. Bob and his family were well taken care of by the caring doctors and nurses of the Pauley Heart Center of VCU Health Systems. He cherished and supported Hanover High baseball with his grandchildren and was regarded as their # 1 fan. A memorial service with a masonic service will be held Tuesday, December 28 at 1 p.m., with a visitation one hour prior at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Road.
