Robert Millard Vencill

Robert Millard "Bob" Vencill a cherished father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, went to be with the Lord peacefully on July 19th 2026. Bob was a shining beacon of strength, love, and resilience throughout his life. He is remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his faith, and his country.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Martha "Betty" Vencill; his loving wife of 50 years Alice S. Vencill; his brothers, Eddie W. Vencill and Guy T. Vencill as well as several other cherished brother and sister-in-laws.

He is survived by his 3 daughters; Lisa Owens (Emmitt), Kimberly Helie (Mike), and Karen Capehart (Chris). His 4 grandchildren, Hannah, Kaitlyn, Courtney, and Brody. His 2 great grandchildren, Ryleigh and Warren McCarty. Bob was also eagerly awaiting the arrival of his 3rd great grandchild Peyton McCarty.

Bob is survived by his sisters, Cara "Margarette" Melton and Patsy Vencill, sister-in-law, Debbie Vencill, 2 lifelong friends Gerald and Peggy Dye, as well as numerous extended family.

In addition to being a loving family man Bob served his country with pride as a member of the United States Marines from 1965 to 1969. His life was filled with simple joys and passions. He was an avid bowler which lead him to be a member of many leagues throughout the years. Bob also enjoyed any opportunity to go fishing. In his most recent years he looked forward to playing cards and bingo every chance he had. He enjoyed watching sports of every kind and was a huge fan of the Virginia Cavaliers and the Atlanta Braves.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Heritage Green Assisted Living for the care and compassion they provided to Bob over the past 6 years, especially in his final months. Their kindness and support was a source of great comfort to him and his family.

We celebrate a life well lived and find comfort in the legacy of love he leaves behind. His memory will forever be a guiding light for those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A service will be held on Thursday July 23rd at 2 PM with a visitation an hour prior at Woody Funeral Home in Mechanicsville. Interment will be private at Signal Hill Memorial Park.
